The elephant tusks
Located on Moi Avenue, the elephant’s tusks were built in 1952 to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth.
Mombasa old town
This part of Mombasa has a rich and interesting architecture, curios and art a walk through its narrow winding streets takes you back centuries.
Fort Jesus
This is islands premier lure build in 1593 overlooking the Indian Ocean. The fort was designed by the Italian artichtect Jao Batisto Cairato, variously occupied by the Portuguese and Omani Arabs before the Kenyan government first used it as a prison soon after independence.
In 1962 it was opened as a museum and declares a historic monument, it exhibits the culture of the coastal people and the archeological and historical excavations from the coast.
The Mombasa Marine Reserve
A fun of snorkeling and diving, this is a very popular destination you don’t want to miss you have a chance to view the beautiful coral gardens and fish.
TAMARIND DHOW CRUISES
With 02 sailing dhows per day you may choose lunch, shaded by midday sun by canvas, or a romantic candle –lit dinner under the beautiful African sky. Mamba Village
This said to be the largest crocodile farm in the world,it’s a farm combined with restaurants serving crocodile meat a lovely farm house, all night disco, an aquarium and a snake farm ,other activities includes camel and horse riding, you do not want to miss the feeding session.
Haller Park
This is the former cement quarry that has been converted into a beautiful nature trail, is home to hippos and the famous Mzee and Owen.
SHIMONI CAVES
Shimoni is a Swahili for hole) .The caves, which are runned by the community, are usually open from 0830Hrs to 1800hrs.
In the 18th century, the caves were believed to have served as prison for the thousands slaves who were in transit to the infamous Arabia slave markets of Zanzibar.
It’s the best place to enjoy the watersports,ie snorkeling windsurfing,sailing,diving, water-skiing and many more .
SHIMBA HILLS NATIONAL PARK
Shimba Hills National Park is otherwise referred to us “Paradise of the Stable Antelope” is located only 33 Km away from Mombasa town. The park is famous for the magnificent Sheldricks falls on the slopes of the hills .The Park is made up of both open grassland and dense rain forest, all with stunning views across the Indian Ocean. Animals seen in this area include elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, heartbeasts, sable roan antelopes, black and white monkeys, and warthog. The forest is an important bird area and hosts 111 bird species have been recorded.
Walk down to the magnificent Shedrick’s Falls on the slope of the hills with the company of an experienced guide, it’s such a remarkable experience.
KISITE MPUNGUTI MARINE PARK
‘Enchanted water realm’
Kisite Mpunguti lies in the coral gardens south of Wasini Island and encompasses three small coral rag forest islands, go and enjoy norkeling or scuba diving in the warm sky blue waters and enjoy the shifting rainbows of small fish and the ever changing colours of marine life. Kisite is one of the most rewarding snorkeling locations at the coast.
Sun bath on the tide controlled white sand bar that Kisite is famous for brace yourself for the unforgettable dance of dolphins as they appear from above and below the gentle waves.
WASINI ISLAND
Wasini island is located further south towards shimoni. Deep sea diving in Wasini Island south of Mombasa have been climbed for their bounty. When you reach your destination of Shimoni “the place of the cave” you will board a motorized dhow to Kisite. Now the best part of the journey begins as you sail through an enchanting seascape of islands set in a pristine sea of unbelievable blue.During this journey it is possible to spot dolphins.Then arrive Kisite Marine Park, an underwater park. It is here that underwater splendors await you. In the shallow warm water that surround Kisite Island the water abounds with marine life. Here you can snorkel and marvel at the incredible variety of marine life. Scuba Divers can explore a number of excellent dive sites in the coral reefs.There is an astounding amount of and variety of marine life at all levels of the reefs. To top off the trip, sumptuous Swahili style seafood lunch is served at Wasini island restaurant. After lunch when you have had your fill we visit a traditional Muslim village .
GEDE RUINS
Barely 16kms prior to arriving Malindi,we have the lost city of Gede a 13th century ruin in the heart of a dense forest where can be found the best remains of an Arab town on the coast, a settlement covering over 45 acres.Gede indigenous forest is home to a variety of flora and fauna.
Arabuko Sokoke Forest Reserve
Arabuko Sokoke is nestled besides Watamu and Malindi parks .It is the largest tract of indigenous coastal forest remaining in East Africa, with an area of 417sq km and stretches to the headwaters of Sabaki River. There are rare varieties of birds, butterflies, monkeys which are well represented.
Marine Park
The park is equipped with beautiful resources such as mangroves, marine mammals ,reefs, coral gardens in the lagoons turtles ,shorebirds just to mention but a few.Visit the Marine Park underwater by glass-bottomed boat to experience spectacular coral gardens, myriad and multi-coloured fish and seashells.
VASCO DA GAMA
It was founded in the 10th century, the Portuguese navigator vasco da gama landed here in 1498 and erected the Vasco da gama pillar. The pillar marks the last point stop in Africa before Vasco Da Gama Sailed across to India in 1498.
