Zanzibar Island

Zanzibar Island also know as Unguja is located in the Indian Ocean 22 miles (35 km) off the coast of mainland Tanzania .Its capital, Zanzibar City is famed for its narrow streets, historic old buildings and ancient spice markets.

The climate is typically humid and tropical with an average annual rainfall of 1,500 to 2,000 mm). Coconut palms and other vegetation cover the land surface.

The “long rains” occur between March and May and the “short rains” between October and December.

The language most widely spoken is Kiswahili.

The Island consists of many small islands and two large ones: Unguja (which is the main island, referred to informally as Zanzibar) and Pemba Island.Other languages spoken here are English Arabic.Its beaches are ranked one of the best places in the world with fine beaches.
